Our trip to Bitche was an impromptu decision made due to the fact that my relatives in Germany live nearby France; prior to visiting, I hadn’t the foggiest about even the existence of Bitche but after exploring the infamous citadel, the city has definitely left a mark. Having suffered through countless wars, the fact that the citadel is still standing is remarkable – most of what I now know was shared via the super explanatory audio-guide but most of the tour took place underground so photographs were a problem. However, if you’re interested to learn more about the citadel in general then read this!
