Thank You For Choosing To Support Love, Light, Lemons
At the end of 2017, I founded Love, Light, Lemons with the intention to continuously uplift the lives of communities in need in Malaysia while simultaneously curating eco-friendly products. The charitable organisation started by selling hand-poured candles made with only three ingredients: 100% soy-wax, pure essential oil, and hemp wick.
In 2019, Love, Light, Lemons collaborated with the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation and Sunway Student Ambassadors on a project involving the orphans of Pusat Jagaan Rumah Juara (Puchong). Alongside the Sunway Student Ambassadors, we created a safe space for the orphans to express their creativity through handicraft. Together, we moulded clay into bowls and even celebrated Chinese New Year with a traditional bowl of Yee Sang. Each clay bowl was then made into a candle, with a percentage of profits returning to the orphanage.
Now, I’m embarking on another exciting project: selling apparel made from GOTS certified organic cotton, sewn by refugees seeking asylum in Malaysia. Chances are, you’re reading this as you’ve purchased or about to purchase said apparel so from the bottom of my heart, I thank you.

What You Should Know About
Did you know that in Malaysia refugees are hosted based on humanitarianism? And that this means in Malaysia refugees are not legally granted access to education or work? Fortunately, refugees are allowed to work under local NGOS that have partnered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
Life2Life is run by Afghani men whereas Mang Tha (a branch under Tanma Federation) is run by Burmese women. Both sewing centre’s hand-made each and every shirt with care and love.
While Love, Light, Lemons wanted to employ a refugee to hand-stitch the embroidery, it was unfortunately not feasible due to the intricacy of each design and the delicacy of the cotton. Maintaining a closed loop system, a local embroidery shop was chosen instead.
If you’re unfamiliar with fast fashion facts, brands like Topshop, Forever21, Primark etc. not only underpay their workers but also use unsustainable, synthetic fabrics and dyes. The most shocking fast fashion fact is how Indian cotton farmers commonly commit suicide due to debt caused by purchasing modified cotton seeds; these modified cotton seeds harm their villages not only emotionally but ecologically, too. For more eye-opening information, please watch The True Cost.
With that in mind, Love, Light, Lemons opted for 100% organic cotton that’s been GOTS certified. The GOTS certification is globally recognised and only awarded to manufacturers that adhere to ecological and socially responsible practices; such as, zero harmful chemicals and fair wages. Love, Light, Lemons purchased its 100% organic cotton from Nan Yang Textile Group in Thailand which uses solar energy and heavily focuses on employee engagement. Recently, Nan Yang staff planted 2,500 trees.
Fun fact: the swing tag was printed with soy ink and the hand-written message was penned with food-grade ink.
Note that during your purchase, you will be asked if you would like to donate RM 5. This amount will go towards the Strays of Shah Alam NGO which feeds the stray dogs in Shah Alam. In Malaysia, Muslim majority areas like Shah Alam are more prone to abusing and severely neglecting stray dogs hence why assistance is needed – financially and through adoption. Currently, Strays of Shah Alam is feeding three packs in total. Note that this add-on is entirely optional.
Love, Light, Lemons understands that there are many communities-in-need within Malaysia that require attention and many lifestyle factors that need to change as for the environment to truly thrive. That being said, thank you again for choosing to purchase Love, Light, Lemons; even if you don’t donate, know that your purchase has uplifted others and has helped the environment.

The Batik Collection
This collection features up-cycled batik that was donated to Love, Light, Lemons. Each batik was traditionally made and bought in the East Coast of Malaysia. Through batik, artisans have artistic freedom as batik requires every pattern to be hand-drawn instead of woven with thread. The idea behind The Batik Collection is for you to be able to express yourself freely, just like the artisans, by embracing your individual style. Besides being able to choose from two designs, you can also choose between four types of batik. Each batik string is entirely adjustable meaning you can tie the batik strings loose for more skin, tight for less skin, or don’t even tie the strings at all. The choice really is yours.
