How To Get There: You can either fly to Kuantan or Kuala Terengganu then hire transport to The Kasturi (a one hour or two hours drive, respectively) or you can drive from Kuala Lumpur to Cherating (around two and a half to three hours).

What To Expect: A secluded haven nestled between lush greenery and hugged by the ocean, The Kasturi seamlessly combines the natural with the man-made; even incorporating trees into the architecture of each villa. Other Recommendations: Located besides the resort, guests of The Kasturi can visit the Rimbun Dahan Turtle Hatchery for free; the sanctuary houses the eggs of turtles as unfortunately, a market for those eggs exist. However, by creating a safe space, the sanctuary ensures the livelihood of the Malaysian turtles as every hatched turtle returns to the ocean – visitors are allowed to view the hatching process and can momentarily hold a turtle, even name it, before releasing it back to Mother Nature.

Within the vicinity of the hotel, a local river curves around the trees to meet the ocean; albeit random, otters have made that river their home and if you’re lucky, you can observe those otters in the wee hours of the morning.
